Physical Requirement for swimmers ages 10 and older
Beginning March 26,2012, all LRST swimmers must have a current physical on file at the time of registration and for the duration of the season. Participants turning 10 years of age during the season must submit a current physical on or before their birthday. Physicals are considered current within one year of the doctor’s signature. We have had this policy in place for other athletic sports for some time, and we have the safety of your swimmer(s) in mind.
Physicals must be submitted directly to the Recreation Department at 1456 Warren Road. Office hours are 8:30 am-6:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 am-5:00 pm on Fridays.
Please contact Matt Demaline, Aquatic Manager, with questions or concerns.
Help your swimmer fuel for practice and meets
Update on registration information. Swimmers must remain current on their fees in order to practice with the team. Payment is available on-line, at the Recreation Department, or at the pool (cash or check only - see the pool manager on-duty). Each swimmer participating in LRST activities also must be a member of USA Swimming. Membership in USA Swimming runs the length of the calendar year. Also, on a yearly basis, each swimmer must have a current Participant Information Sheet on file. Here are the corresponding forms:
LRST is always looking for new swimmers!
To schedule a tryout, email Head Coach Jim Stacy.
Swimmers should be prepared to swim while the parents receive information on the program.
Interested swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) front crawl and one length of the pool (25 yards) backstroke, and must be at least 6 years old. LRST swimmers practice several times per week, and compete in meets held throughout the Greater Cleveland area. The sport of swimming teaches youngsters discipline and helps them to become goal oriented. The LRST coaches have extensive experience in helping younger swimmers to improve in a fun and upbeat atmosphere. LRST features a great Parents Club who works tirelessly (through volunteers) to keep the sport fun, and the team a close knit group, through such activities and events such as: holiday party, pasta pump up dinner, team banquet, team breakfasts in the summer, and many other activities.
At the child's tryout, each swimmer will be evaluated by the coaching staff; this is done for safety purposes, and also to place each swimmer in the proper group. Parents will be given fee information and will have the opprotunity to speak to parents with swimmers on the team. For more information, please email Matt Demaline (Aquatic Manager) at matt.demaline@lakewood.k12.oh.us.
